The City of Springfield in Effingham County is approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Savannah. Known as “The Heart of Effingham,” in 1799 it was named the permanent county seat. Its present-day structures have merged into Springfield’s historical buildings preserving the town’s feeling of yesteryear. One of Springfield’s "gems" that has withstood is the site of their unique Town Hall and the Old Jail. As the county grew, this unique structure additionally developed to house the numerous open and taxpayer supported organizations anticipated to suit the county's evolving needs. Springfield is a wonderful place to call home!!
